Dr. Atul N C Peters serves as the Director of the Department of Bariatric, Minimal Access & General Surgery at Max Smart Super Speciality Hospital located in Saket, New Delhi. Under his leadership, the department was recognized as a Centre of Excellence for Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery by OSSI, effective January 1st, 2020.
He practices in India, Dubai, and Muscat. Dr. Peters is board certified by the National Board of Surgery and holds various professional fellowships and memberships in numerous National and International Surgical Societies.
With over two decades of surgical experience, he now focuses his practice on Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery for Diabetes, performing more than 300 procedures each year.
Dr. Peters has been honored with the title of "Surgeon of Excellence" by the Surgical Review Corporation in the USA, which oversees the Surgeon of Excellence Program globally, recognizing surgeons and healthcare facilities that deliver safe, high-quality surgical care. He is recognized as the first surgeon to establish a bariatric program in North West Africa, specifically in Nigeria, and has successfully performed over 40 surgeries under this initiative.
Dr. Peters is also a founding member of ACMOMS (Asian Consensus Meeting on Metabolic Surgery).
Moreover, he holds the world record for conducting the highest number of Bariatric Surgeries in a single day, totaling sixteen, as recorded in the LIMCA BOOK OF WORLD RECORDS.
