Dr. Sandeep is recognized as one of the leading Cardiothoracic surgeons in Northern India. With over 22 years of experience, he has performed more than 9000 cardiac surgeries. He earned his MBBS from the Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute of Medical Sciences in Kerala, where he also completed his MS in General Surgery and M. Ch in Cardiovascular Surgery. Throughout his distinguished career, he has worked with several esteemed hospitals, including Apollo Hospital in Dhaka, Narayana Hrudayalaya in Jaipur, Global Hospital Group in Chennai, and Fortis Hospital in Gurugram.

Dr. Sandeep Attawar is a prominent surgeon specializing in cardiothoracic and thoracic organ transplantation. He serves as the Chief Surgeon for Thoracic Organ Transplantation at Artemis Hospital Gurugram, as well as the Program Director and Chair of Thoracic Organ Transplantation at KIMS Heart & Lung Transplant Institute. With more than twenty years of experience, he has been instrumental in establishing heart and lung transplantation programs throughout India, including at Gleneagles Global Hospitals located in Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Mumbai and as well as in Artemis Hospital. His team has successfully conducted 630 thoracic organ transplants, which comprise 448 double lung transplants, 125 heart transplants, and 57 combined heart-lung transplants, in addition to over 50 LVAD implants. Remarkably, his team has achieved 29 double lung transplants for patients with end-stage COVID-damaged lungs, marking one of the largest series of its kind globally. Dr. Attawar is recognized as a global authority in his specialty, having contributed to consensus guidelines for lung transplantation and promoting mechanically assisted circulation as a scientific advisor for India’s first indigenous MAGLEV LVAD, Hridayantra. His areas of expertise include both open and closed heart surgeries, Left Ventricular Assist Device implants, as well as Lung and Heart Transplantation in adult patients.
