Dr. Viveka Kumar is a Senior Consultant Interventional Cardiologist and serves as the Principal Director and Chief of Cath Labs (Pan Max) at Max Super Speciality Hospital located in Saket, New Delhi. He earned his MBBS and MD in Medicine from IMS (BHU) in Varanasi, followed by a DM in Cardiology, a postdoctoral superspeciality qualification from GSVM Medical College in Kanpur.
With extensive experience, Dr. Kumar has conducted over 7,500 PTCA and complex interventions, which include Rotablation, Left Main stenting, and Bifurcation stenting, among various other procedures. He possesses significant expertise in electrophysiology, encompassing RF ablation, cryo-ablation, cool tip ablation, ICD and CRT implantation, device and lead extraction, as well as coronary and peripheral angioplasty, renal and carotid angioplasty, radial artery route angiograms, and balloon valvotomy.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Kumar has a robust background in teaching. During his MD program from 1991 to 1994, he instructed undergraduate students, and later, during his DM studies, he taught both postgraduate and undergraduate medical students. From 1999 to 2003, he provided instruction to postgraduate DNB Cardiology students and nurses, while also overseeing clinical research projects. In recent years, he has co-guided DNB Cardiology dissertations for five theses.
As an expert in Structural Heart Disease, Dr. Kumar is skilled in procedures such as TAVI, TMVR, and LAA Occlusion. He notably performed the first subcutaneous AICD implantation and holds the record for the most AICD implants in India. Furthermore, he has achieved the highest number of leadless pacemaker implants in the nation. Dr. Kumar also serves as a proctor for TAVI, Rota, IVUS, OCT, SICD, AICDs, and Micra, both nationally and internationally.
