Dr. Amit Kumar Chaurasia is an alumnus of three prestigious institutes in India. He completed his undergraduate studies at JIPMER (Pondicherry), obtained his MD in Internal Medicine from AIIMS (New Delhi), and pursued a DM in Cardiology from SCTIMST (Trivandrum). Following this, he undertook a Fellowship in Complex Coronary and Structural Heart Disease at GOKI, Budapest (Hungary), where he spent approximately three years.
Dr. Chaurasia is a committed interventional cardiologist with extensive experience in Adult, Pediatric, and Peripheral interventions. He is recognized both nationally and internationally for his contributions to the field of Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation/Replacement (TAVI/TAVR). He is among the first proctors for TAVI in India and has performed one of the highest volumes of TAVI/TAVR procedures in the country, exceeding 1000. Additionally, he has successfully executed Transcatheter Pulmonary Valve Replacement (TPVR) in the smallest conduit in India. His expertise also extends to Transcatheter Mitral Valve Replacements (TMVR), and he has a particular interest in Balloon Mitral Valvuloplasty (BMV) and Mitra-Clip procedures. Furthermore, he has conducted over 50 left atrial appendage closures. Dr. Chaurasia has served as course director, co-director, and faculty member for numerous national and international conferences, contributing to the training of many physicians in these techniques both in India and abroad.
In addition to TAVI, he specializes in complex coronary interventions, including Left Main interventions, chronic total occlusions (CTO), and other intricate procedures, regularly hosting workshops at various locations. To date, he has performed more than 10,000 cardiac procedures. His repertoire also includes ASD, VSD, PDA, and pulmonary AV fistula device closures. He has a keen interest in carotid and aortoiliac interventions, encompassing treatments for aortic aneurysms and dissections (TEVAR and EVAR). Moreover, he possesses substantial experience in advanced catheter-based treatments for hypertension, specifically renal artery denervation.
