Dr. Roopa Salwan, a distinguished Interventional Cardiologist, earned her MBBS in 1986 and her MD in medicine in 1993 from Maulana Azad Medical College and LNJPN Hospital, New Delhi. Among her achievements are the Gold Medal for Surgical Excellence in 1986 and the title of Best Resident in Clinical Specialties in 1990. She completed her DM in Cardiology at GB Pant Hospital, Delhi University in 1996. Motivated by a dedication to quality, she undertook a Healthcare Management course at Harvard Business School in 2012.
Since the inception of the Max Heart and Vascular Institute in 2004, Dr. Salwan has made substantial contributions, emphasizing patient-centered care and innovative treatment strategies for Acute MI. Her areas of interest include Acute MI Interventions, cardiovascular diseases affecting women, and Complex Coronary Interventions. Acknowledged as an outstanding Indian woman, she received the esteemed “DEVI” title from the Sunday Standard for her dynamism and innovative spirit.
Throughout her academic career, Dr. Salwan has been awarded numerous college prizes, particularly in biochemistry, Forensic Medicine, Surgery, and ENT. Her interests span a broad spectrum of specialized cardiac care, including TAVI (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation) and Structural Heart Disease. Her expertise also encompasses Cardio-oncology and Cardio-renal care, offering comprehensive and specialized treatment options. Dr. Salwan heads the esteemed Max MI Program, which has consistently achieved Primary PCI (Percutaneous Coronary Intervention) with Door to Balloon Times meeting international standards for the last 15 years. She possesses exceptional skills in performing STEMI interventions and addressing cardiovascular diseases in women.
