Dr. Puneet Agarwal possesses 22 years of experience as a Neurologist. He was the pioneer in North India and at Max Hospital in employing Sonothrombolysis for patients afflicted with severe strokes. He is among the first physicians in India to investigate Inflammatory Genes in Stroke Patients and the use of IV Valproate in cases of Status Epilepticus. Additionally, he has a passion for teaching and has been designated as a thesis advisor for PhD candidates at IIT Delhi, focusing on Brain Wave Signal Processing related to various neurological disorders. He also acts as a mentor for DM (Neurology) and MD (Medicine) students engaged in their thesis and research endeavors. Moreover, the publication of his biography in the WHO'S WHO IN THE WORLD 2006 book, New Jersey, USA, contributed to his recognition.
Furthermore, he is actively involved in publishing and conducting research. He has authored numerous articles in peer-reviewed and prestigious indexed journals, such as Cochrane, Lancet, Seizure Brain Research, and Epilepsia. His research titled "Largest series of Thrombolyzed Cases of Stroke in India" received significant acclaim at the European Stroke Conference. In addition, he earned his MBBS from King George College in Lucknow before completing his DM in Neurology at G. B. Pant Hospital, where he achieved first place.
Subsequently, he undertook a Fellowship in Critical Care Neurology and Stroke at UCLA in Los Angeles, California, and Santara Hospital in Virginia, both located in the United States. Dr. Agarwal also completed a training fellowship at the National University Hospital in Singapore, specializing in sonothrombolysis, TCD, Carotid Doppler, and Sleep Studies. He later received additional training fellowships in DBS, Parkinson's disease, and Botulinum Toxin Injection in Spain and Amsterdam.
