Brief Profile:

Dr. Swarupa Mitra is a Radiation Oncologist with expertise in treating cancer patients using advanced technologies and educating Post Graduate Radiation Oncology trainees. She is proficient in the latest Radiotherapy techniques and was part of the team that initiated IGRT technology in New Delhi. In 2005, she played a significant role in establishing the Rural Cancer Centre in Mirpur, Haryana. Additionally, she has served as a Nominated Member of the Project Advisory Committee for Health Communication within the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. Dr. Mitra has been involved in various research initiatives related to Oncology treatment and Cancer registry. She holds the position of Principal Investigator and co-investigator for several research projects in collaboration with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). In January 2018, she was honored with an Oration at The Indo Oncology Summit.

Currently, Dr. Swarupa serves as the Director and Unit Head of the Department of Radiation Oncology at Fortis Memorial Research Institute. With over 23 years of post-MD experience, she has been an invited speaker at numerous National and International conferences, including the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and the Indian College of Radiation Oncologists (ICRO), and has acted as a Mentor for The Union for International Cancer Control (UICC). Furthermore, she is a Co-guide for PhD theses at the University of Ghent, Belgium. Dr. Mitra was also a Nominated Member of the Project Advisory Committee for Health Communication in the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. She received a certificate of recognition from the Health Minister of Jharkhand for her efforts in raising awareness about cervical cancer among women in Jharkhand.
